A playout builds a picture, and this part describes where that picture goes.
Each playout has one output, which you choose separately for each playout. A computer with two playouts can therefore send one playout to an SDI card and the other to a projector, and the two do not affect each other.
The part starts with the choice of an output and with the canvas, because the canvas determines the size and frame rate that the outputs have to match. After that, each type of output has its own page.
| Page | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Choosing an output | The five types of output, what the status bar shows, and what happens when an output does not start. |
| Canvas and frame rate | The size in which everything is built. All playouts share it. |
| SDI via DeckLink | The device, the mode, the audio track and the keyer. |
| NDI | How to send a playout over the network, and what you need to install. |
| Screen or projector | A full-screen window on a second display. |
Streaming and recording are also a type of output, and they have a part of their own: part 6.
