Web page

This page describes how to show a website as a cue. Use it for live content from another source, such as a schedule, a fundraising counter, a scoreboard or a dashboard. The page loads in a browser source and appears like any other cue.

Adding a web page

Click Web page in the toolbar and enter the address. If necessary, you can also enter a zoom level.

The two settings

Address. This is the page to load. The program loads the page again each time it prepares the cue, so a page that updates itself shows current information when it goes on air.

Zoom. This works like Ctrl+scroll in a browser: the page becomes larger and its layout adjusts, so it does not simply enlarge a fixed picture. Use it when a page that was designed for a laptop is too small to read on a canvas that is 1920 pixels wide.

To change either setting later, right-click the cue and choose Address and zoom….

Operating a page that is on air

Some pages need a click, for example to log in, to press a “start” button or to close a cookie notice.

For this purpose, an Operate button appears at the bottom left of the status bar when a web page is live. It opens the page in a window where you can click, type and scroll. Keep in mind that everything you do there is visible on air.

What this cue does not have

A web page cue has no automatic start click and no in and out points, because it only displays a page.

For a video at an address, use Video from a link. That is a media cue, with a timeline and trim points.

Practical notes

The page does not know that it is on air. Everything that appears on the page also appears on air, such as a cookie banner, a session that expires, or a dialog that asks whether you are still there. Open the page once when you check the list, and handle these items in advance.

A page with a login stays logged in while the program is running, because the browser source keeps the session. After a restart, log in again in the Operate window.

Give the page time to load. A page that is armed a few seconds before GO is already loaded and appears immediately.
