This page covers showing a website as a cue. For things that are live and made elsewhere: a schedule, a fundraising counter, a scoreboard, a dashboard. The page loads in a browser source and appears like any other cue.
Adding one
Web page in the toolbar. Fill in the address, and if the page needs it, a zoom level.
The two settings
Address. The page to load. It is fetched fresh when the cue is prepared, so a page that updates itself shows current figures when it goes on air.
Zoom. The same as Ctrl+scroll in a browser: the page gets bigger and reflows to fit. It is not a magnifying glass over a fixed picture — the layout genuinely changes, which is what you want when a page designed for a laptop is unreadably small on a 1920-wide canvas.
You can change both later: right-click the cue → Address and zoom….
Operating a page that is on air
Some pages need a click: a login, a “start” button, a cookie notice in the way.
When a web page is live, an Operate button appears in the status bar at the bottom left. It opens that page in a window you can click, type and scroll in, and what you do there happens on air.
What this cue does not have
No automatic start click and no in and out points. A web page cue displays a page.
For a video that lives behind an address, use Video from a link — that is a real media cue, with a timeline, scrubbing and trim points.
For a player from a particular video service, that service’s module supplies its own cue.
Practical notes
The page has no idea it is on television. Anything that pops up — a cookie banner, a session that expires, an “are you still there” dialog — appears on air too. Open the page once during your check-through and clear those out.
A page that needs a login stays logged in for as long as the program runs; the browser source keeps its session. After a restart you log in again through the Operate window.
Give it a moment. A page that is armed a few seconds before GO is already loaded and comes up instantly.
