This page covers changing a list that already exists, and what is safe to do while it is running. Building a list is part 1; this is the maintenance you do on the Saturday, and the two edits you make on the Sunday.
Dragging
Drag a line to move it. A group moves as one block, everything inside it included, and you never have to select the members first.
The insertion line shows where it will land, including inside a group. Drop onto a collapsed group header and the line goes in at the end of that group.
The numbers redo themselves the moment you let go.
Duplicating
Right-click → Duplicate. The copy appears directly beneath the original, with the same trim, volume, transition and follow action.
Faster than building a second cue from scratch when you need the same clip twice with different trims — duplicate, then change the out point.
Renaming
Click the line, then click the title again, or right-click → Rename. Type, press Enter.
A title starts as the file name, which is rarely what you want to read during a broadcast. Rename the lines you will be looking for under pressure: Clip opening, not 2026-08-final-v3-export.mp4.
Deleting
Select and press Delete, or right-click → Delete. You are asked to confirm, unless you switched that off under Settings → General.
Ctrl+Z puts the last deletion back, in the place it stood, with the music beds that lost their anchor. Twenty steps deep, and it is also the first line of the right-click menu. Without it a mis-click on a group heading took a whole song or a whole part of a service, and the backup file on disk is overwritten three quarters of a second later — so there was nothing left to go back to.
It is about the LIST and not about the broadcast: if the cue you deleted was on air, the playout stays stopped. Undo brings the line back; it does not put it back on air.
If the point is to get something out of the way rather than to lose it, use the archive folder instead — that keeps it findable rather than only undoable.
Editing while the show runs
All of the above works while a playout is live, and none of it disturbs the cue on air.
Two things to know:
- Dragging the cue that is currently on air does not stop it. The picture keeps running; only its place in the list changes.
- Deleting the cue that is on air stops it. That is the one edit to keep your hands off during a broadcast.
Adding is always safe: dropping files onto a running list is a normal thing to do when something comes up that was not planned.
