Updating

You are reading the documentation for version 1.1.8. Go to the current version (1.2.0)

The program and the modules are updated separately. You start both updates from Settings → Info, and neither starts automatically.

The program

Check for updates… checks whether a newer version is available.

If there is one, the program shows the version number and what is new, with a link to more information. If you choose to download, the program downloads and checks the update. When the update is ready, the program must close before the update can be installed, and it asks you first.

Nothing happens without your permission. The program does not download in the background, does not show messages during a service, and does not restart by itself.

The program checks the update before it runs. The download must use https, the version number must be valid, and the file must match the checksum (SHA-256) from the site. If one of these is missing or wrong, the update stops with a message, and nothing is installed. This check is necessary because an installer runs with administrator rights. A signed program also refuses an installer that is not signed.

The modules

Check for module updates… does the same for the modules of your account. The program shows a list with each module, its old and new version, and which modules are new.

The download stops the modules for a moment. The base program continues to run, including the cue list, the outputs and the broadcast, but everything from a module is unavailable for a short time.

When to update

Update after a service, never before one. If an update becomes available shortly before a broadcast, install it the next day. The program never forces an update.

Two more recommendations apply to a computer that you depend on:

Update one computer first if you have several, and run a real rundown on it before you update the others.

Write down which version you had. Settings → Info shows the current version, but it does not show the version you had last month.
