Stills playlist

You are reading the documentation for version 1.1.8. Go to the current version (1.2.0)

This page describes the stills playlist, which is a set of pictures that change automatically. Examples are photos before the service, sponsor boards during the interval, and holiday pictures during the coffee break.

Adding a stills playlist

Click the arrow beside Still in the toolbar, choose Stills playlist… and select the pictures.

The program then shows a list of the selected pictures, with a Time beside each picture and a field for the time:

  • To set the time for one picture, type it on that line.
  • To set the same time for all pictures, use Apply to all. This is the most common choice.

How it plays

The playlist runs automatically: each picture is shown for its time, and then the next picture appears. The whole set is one line in the rundown and needs one GO.

This is the difference from a media playlist, which continues to the next line on your GO. A stills playlist changes pictures on a timer.

Choosing a time

ContentSuitable time
Photos that people look at6–10 seconds
Sponsor boards with text8–12 seconds
A background that nobody looks at closely15 seconds or more

Less than about four seconds feels restless on a large screen, and a picture with text needs enough time for a viewer to read the text twice.

Practical notes

The order is the order in which you selected the pictures. So select them in File Explorer in the order you want, or give the files suitable names and sort by name.

Pictures with different proportions are scaled to fit, so portrait photos get bars and are not cropped. This is usually correct for a series of holiday pictures. If it is not, crop the pictures to the canvas in advance.

Add a music bed under the playlist, so that the block is not silent. See music beds.
