Scene

This page describes the scene cue, which is a combination of several sources that plays as one line. Examples are a background with a countdown, a logo over a video, and a picture-in-picture. You build the scene once, and the rundown then handles it like any other cue.

Adding a scene

Click Scene in the toolbar to create a new scene. When you have entered a name, the scene builder opens.

The arrow beside the button lists the scenes you already have. Each scene in that list has the entries Insert, Edit…, Rename… and Delete, and Insert adds the scene to the list as a cue. New scene… is at the bottom of the menu.

Building a scene is a subject of its own, which covers sources, their order, visibility, locking and filters. Part 8 describes it.

A scene with a clock

A scene can contain a Clock / countdown source. This source can count down from a duration, count down to a time of day, or count up, and it can also show the time or the date.

With a clock in the scene, two things happen automatically:

  • The clock does not run until the cue goes live. It starts when the audience sees it, and not when you arm the cue.
  • A scene with a countdown sets the duration of the cue, so you do not need to enter the same number twice.

Part 8 describes the clock source and its format.

What you can set on the cue

You can set the normal columns: transition, follow action and link. A scene has no in and out point, unless a source inside it ends. The volume applies to the sources in the scene that produce sound.
