This page covers the scene cue: a composition of several sources, played as one line. A background with a countdown over it, a logo over a video, a picture-in-picture. You build the scene once and the rundown treats it like any other cue.
Adding one
Clicking Scene in the toolbar makes a new scene: give it a name and the scene builder opens. The arrow beside it lists the scenes you already have, each with Insert, Edit…, Rename… and Delete; Insert puts it in the list as a cue. New scene… sits at the bottom of that menu.
Building is a subject of its own — sources, order, visibility, locking, filters — and it lives in part 8.
A scene with a clock in it
A scene can contain a Clock / countdown source — counting down over a duration, counting down to a time of day, counting up, or simply showing the time or the date.
Two things happen automatically when it does:
- The clock stays frozen until the cue goes live. It starts when the audience sees it, not when you armed it.
- A scene with a countdown sets the duration of the cue by itself. You do not fill in the same number twice.
The clock source and its formatting are covered in part 8.
What you can set on the cue
The ordinary columns: transition, follow action, link. A scene has no in and out point unless something inside it runs to an end.
Volume applies to whatever sources inside the scene produce sound.
