Stills playlist

You are reading the documentation for version 1.2.0. Go to the current version (1.2.1)

A stills playlist is a set of pictures that change by themselves, such as photos before the service, sponsor boards during the interval, or holiday pictures during the coffee break.

Adding a stills playlist

Click the arrow beside Still in the toolbar, choose Stills playlist… and select the pictures.

A window shows the selected pictures, each with a Time:

  • To set the time for one picture, type it on that line.
  • To set the same time for all pictures, use Apply to all. This is the most common choice.

How it plays

Each picture stays for its time, and then the next one appears. The whole set is one line in the list and needs one GO.

A media playlist works in the same way, except that each clip ends when the clip is over. In a stills playlist, the time that you set decides when the picture changes.

Choosing a time

ContentSuitable time
Photos that people look at6–10 seconds
Sponsor boards with text8–12 seconds
A background that nobody looks at closely15 seconds or more

Less than about four seconds feels restless on a large screen, and a picture with text needs enough time for a viewer to read the text twice.

Practical notes

The pictures play in the order in which you selected them. Select them in File Explorer in the order you want, or give the files names that sort in the right order.

Pictures with different proportions are scaled to fit, so portrait photos get bars and are not cropped. This is usually correct for a series of holiday pictures. If it is not, crop the pictures to the canvas in advance.

Add a music bed under the playlist, so that the block is not silent. See music beds.
