The item pane

You are reading the documentation for version 1.2.0. Go to the current version (1.2.1)

The item pane shows what is inside the selected line, beside the cue list. You can see the contents of an item there without opening half the list.

Opening the item pane

Click the Item button at the bottom left, in the status bar. While the pane is open, the cue list shows only the number, the title and the status, so that both fit.

The program remembers the width of the pane for each playout, and the pane has the same width after a restart.

What it shows

You selectedThe pane shows
A group or partIts items, in order, with their numbers and settings
A cue with a music bed under itThe music bed: the cue where it starts, the cue where it ends, its volume and whether it repeats
The archive folderThe lines stored in it
NothingA request to select a line

The pane shows the settings of each item, so you can change a follow action or a trim here in the same way as in the list.

To go to the previous or next line of the list, use the ▲ and ▼ at the top of the pane. The pane then shows that line.

Following what is live

When Follows live, at the top of the pane, is on, the pane shows what is on air instead of the selected line.

That is usually the best setting during a broadcast: the pane shows the block that is playing, while you move the green line through the main list to look ahead.

Reordering in the pane

You can drag items up and down in the pane to change their order, and this also changes the order in the list.

In a block of twelve steps, this is quicker and safer than dragging in the main list, because there are no other lines nearby where you could drop an item by mistake.

When to keep it closed

Keep the pane closed during a simple show. It uses width that the title column needs, and the colours in the list already show the important states.

Open the pane when a block does not behave as expected and you want to see what it contains.
