All cue types

You are reading the documentation for version 1.2.0. Go to the current version (1.2.1)

Each button on the left of the toolbar adds a type of cue, and each type puts something different on screen. This page gives an overview of the types and what each one is for. It also explains how to add a cue, and how to hide the types that you do not use.

The types

MediaVideo and audio from a fileYes
Video from a linkVideo and audio from an addressYes
StillOne pictureNo. It has a duration
SceneA scene that you built yourselfOnly if a source in the scene has a duration

Media playlistSeveral files, one after anotherEach file has its own
Stills playlistSeveral pictures, each with its own timeNo

The list also has lines that organise it and show nothing themselves: the group, the part, the archive folder and the go-to cue. Part 2 describes them.

Modules add cue types of their own, such as songs and name plates. Each is described in the part for its module, and it appears and disappears with the module, not with Cue types in the toolbar.

Adding a cue

You can add a cue in three ways, with the same result:

  • Click the toolbar button for the type. Buttons with an arrow contain related types: the media playlist and the link are under Media, and the stills playlist is under Still.
  • Drag a file onto the list. The type then depends on the file, and part 1 has the complete table.
  • Duplicate an existing line, if you want to use the same settings again.

A new cue appears below the green line, also when that line is inside a group. It starts with the transition and follow action that you set as defaults under Settings → Cue list….

Hiding the types you do not use

Under Modules → Manage modules… → Cue types in the toolbar, you can switch off the buttons for types that you do not need. If you never show a web page, for example, remove that button to make the toolbar shorter.

The setting hides only the button. Existing cues of that type still play, and you can still drag files onto the list, whichever buttons are shown.
