When it goes wrong

New in version 1.2.1.

Most problems with a linked folder come from the files themselves. This page lists them, with the solution for each.

A file does not appear

SituationWhat to do
The file is still being copiedWait until the copy is complete. The cue then appears by itself
Another program holds the file openClose the file in that program
The type of file is not supportedUse a video, a sound file, a picture or an internet shortcut
The file is hidden, or its name ends in .tmp or .partGive it a normal name
The file is in a folder inside a subgroupMove it up. The list stops at subgroups, and the log names the folder that was skipped
An internet shortcut has no web addressOpen the shortcut and check that its address starts with http:// or https://

A change in the list is undone

The order and the content of a linked part come from the folder. If you drag a cue inside the part, delete it or add one, the program puts the part back as the folder says. Change the folder instead. See How the folder becomes the list.

A cue lost its settings

The program recognises a cue by the name of its file without the number. When the rest of the name changes, the cue is new and starts with the default settings. Change only the number when you want to move a cue. The same applies to the cues in a subfolder whose name you change, because the name of the folder is part of the name of each cue in it.

A setting comes back after a restart

The program could not write _settings.playoutfolder, usually because the folder is read-only. Give the program permission to write in the folder, or set the setting in the file yourself. See The settings of a folder.

The part does not change any more
