What the operator sees

This page describes what the person at the desk sees.

What is replaced

WhereWhat appears
The windowThe playout interface, full size — no scene list, no mixer, no menu bar
The title barUltimate Playout
The taskbarThe Ultimate Playout icon and name
Task ManagerUltimate Playout, not the engine’s name
The splash screen at startupUltimate Playout’s own

The operator cannot end up in a screen that has nothing to do with the show. The loading screen covers the start-up, so no half-built window is ever visible.

What looks different

Two places:

Some dialogue boxes. Source properties and a few configuration windows look different from the rest of the interface.

The log. In engineconfig, in its own format. That is where a problem gets diagnosed and it is meant to be read by whoever supports the installation — see sending logs.

For the person setting up a machine

Start from the launcher shortcut. Starting anything else in the program folder directly gives an interface that is only half taken over.

Do not rename or move things in the program folder. The program then starts without its own interface.
