Playouts

You are reading the documentation for version 1.0.1. Go to the current version (1.1.6)

A playout is one complete broadcast line: its own cue list, preview, transport, audio and output. Most installations use one. This part is about what happens when you use more.

It also covers the three special modes, each of which turns a playout into something other than a rundown you operate: one that is always live, one that draws nothing but an overlay layer, and one that appears as a source inside another scene.

PageWhat it covers
More than one playoutAdding lines, the panels side by side, and which one your keyboard is talking to.
Name and colourMaking it obvious which line you are looking at.
Linking playoutsOne GO that starts a cue on another line as well.
Permanent playoutA line that is live from the moment the program starts.
Overlay outputA playout that draws only the overlay layer, for a key input on a mixer.
A playout as a sourcePutting the picture of one playout inside a scene.

When a second playout is the answer

When there are genuinely two screens with different content, and one person has to serve both: the stream and the hall screen, the main output and a foyer display, the programme and a key layer for the mixer.

Not as a preview of the same line, and not to prepare the next item — the green marker already does that, and it costs nothing.
