We have been using Ultimate Playout for a month and a half. While some of our needs have been met over time, we have faced a persistent issue: the software is too unstable to be used as our primary playout system.
The program crashes whenever we attempt to load the programming schedule.
it occasionally goes to a black screen, leaving only the overlays for the current cue visible.
Additionally, the file extension does not matter; whether it is MP4, MKV, or WebM, the same issue persists. Strangely, it only freezes when a program is about to go on air—there are no issues whatsoever with bumpers or commercial breaks.
It is also not an issue with the file itself, as it plays without any problems when using the “Media Playlist Source” in OBS, a VLC playlist, or a standard media source.
These bugs occur a few hours into the broadcast; they don’t happen immediately when the playlist starts.
These problems have forced part of our team to look for alternatives, or to use OBS with Media playlist source.
